Summer
Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of new media recently. With the summer in full swing at NMU it’s been pretty quiet around Radio X.
Please tune in to my radio show on Thursday nights from nine to midnight EST (91.5 FM if you’re in the Marquette, MI area or wupx.com worldwide). I’m also working at WNMU as a board op and you can hear my voice over the airwaves there from time to time as well.
Referendum Passed!
It’s been extremely busy these passed couple of weeks (which is why I didn’t post sooner… sorry!) as I’ve been helping in the final push for votes in the NMU elections. Thankfully, it all paid off though and I’ve helped Radio X to secure the funding for the station to move forward with our plans to buy a new HD transmitter at 1700 watts! The initiative passed 1296 – 925 and in the coming months we’ll be taking the next steps to move the project along. Here We Go Again…
It’s Monday, and that means another busy week of media ahead. First though, here’s everything I produced last week.
It was fun to record the Tigers promo as baseball is definitely my favorite sport and I haven’t ever really had the chance to do much sports production in the past. I am also starting to get more comfortable recording the news for the AM stations as well.

Another Busy Week!
Hello everyone. I had another tremendously busy week up here at NMU. There are a ton of events coming up on campus, and so a lot of people are coming to Radio X for free promotion and that means lots of spots to be made! I chose to make a lot of 45 second spots this time around. I sometimes wish more stations used the 45 second format, because I think it’s a really great amount of time. 30 seconds is too brief, 60 too long. Anyway, the spots are a narration over music. The first two are voiced by me, the last one is not:

I also created the following two public service announcements for NMU’s Health Promotion’s Office. I will be creating more PSAs with the HPO office to help them educate students of some of the many wellness topics that can effect a student’s life. I am a voice in both of these PSAs, but they are dialogue style (their are two other voices in each):

Finally, I turned in a project for my Advanced Audio Production Class. We were given a bunch of samples of a full band recording, and had to mix them together well, taking levels, panning, compression, and various other effects into consideration. Obviously this project allows for many different possibilities based on the personal tastes of the editor. I chose a mostly straight forward edit, but added some reverb to a few instruments and the vocals to give them a little more liveliness. Here’s the finished product:
Now it’s on to spring break! Coming back from break I’m going to be just as swamped, as Radio X has referendum voting coming up and we need to push the issue to the students. I’ve also taken on some work at Northern’s Public Radio branch, I will be doing a full length recording of local group “The Jimmy Almen Trio” for Advanced Audio Class, and I will continue to intern at the Sovereign stations in Marquette.

Hello everyone, sorry for the long amount of time between posts. I haven’t been hiding under a rock, I’ve just been very busy with all sorts of things, including making new audio stuff. AD112 Picture to Sound
I filmed this for my AD112 (Intro to Digital Cinema) class in the Fall 2009 Semester. The main focus of the video was supposed to be the relationship between the music and the events happening in the picture, so be sure to listen with your speakers on!

I recorded these two campus ads today for air play on WUPX – Radio X.
Drag Show – for the 13th annual 2009 Drag Show at NMU. This voices in this spot are from two NMU students representing the event.
Business Venture Competition – for the NMU College of Business. I voiced this spot.
AD112 Cross Cut
I filmed this for my AD112 (Intro to Digital Cinema) class in the Fall 2009 Semester. We were supposed to illustrate the film technique of cross cutting. Thanks to Thom Moran and Mike Rominiecki for “acting” in the video.
